Understanding Usage Limits
Learn how usage limits work in Outlier and what happens when you reach them
Outlier has two types of limits: monthly limits that reset automatically and permanent limits that grow with your plan.
Monthly Limits (Reset on the 1st)#
These limits reset at the beginning of each calendar month (UTC):
| Feature | Free | Creator | Pro | Team |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AI video ideas | 8 | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Title generations | 8 | 50 | 200 | 1,000 |
| Thumbnail generations | 0 | 100 | 500 | Unlimited |
When you hit a monthly limit:
- You'll see a message explaining you've reached your limit
- The feature becomes unavailable until the 1st of next month
- You can upgrade your plan to get immediate access
Permanent Limits#
These limits don't reset—they represent your total capacity:
| Feature | Free | Creator | Pro | Team |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bookmarks | 100 | 10,000 | 100,000 | 1,000,000 |
| Competitor channels | 5 | 25 | 100 | 500 |
| Thumbnail storage | 0 | 1 GB | 10 GB | 100 GB |
| Channels per workspace | 1 | 1 | 5 | 20 |
| Videos per channel | 25 | 100 | 500 | 2,000 |
| Team members | 1 | 1 | 3 | 20 |
When you hit a permanent limit:
- You'll need to delete existing items to add new ones, or
- Upgrade your plan for higher limits
Checking Your Current Usage#
In the Dashboard:
- Click your profile icon in the top right
- Select "Settings"
- View the "Usage" section
In the Chrome Extension:
- Your remaining AI ideas show when generating ideas
- Bookmark count appears in the extension popup
What Counts Against Limits#
AI Video Ideas:
- Each generation request counts as 1, regardless of how many ideas are returned
- Cached results (within 24 hours) don't count again
Title Generations:
- Each "Generate" click counts as 1
- You get 10 titles per generation
Thumbnail Generations:
- Each generation request counts as 1
- Generating 4 variants counts as 1 generation, not 4
Bookmarks:
- Each saved video counts as 1
- Deleting a bookmark frees up that slot
